Ebony Fredrick’s Story
In my lifetime I have not been a stranger to pain and struggle and looking for a job is definitely a struggle but when you meet people like those at Lancaster Works who understand you and are willing to listen and truly have the passion to stand by you and help you succeed in reaching your goals it makes you believe in yourself. Lancaster Works gave me the determination I needed to not only not let myself down but the people who believed in me and my success. Working with this Lancaster Works I felt welcomed. I am always looked as a human being and not being judged based on my criminal charges.
I came looking for a job not only to support myself but to provide housing for my two children. I was in desperate need of a job and within a week after speaking with Tyrone I started in my first position and then three months later moved another better paying position. With that I was able to secure housing and my daughters and was able to reunite with them from a Foster Home. Then Lancaster Works went above and beyond supporting me and even donating furnishings and personal items for my new home and new life. I was well on my way!! Two years later using the knowledge and support provided by Lancaster Works I'm still working and have secured an even better paying job working at a bindery company where I started at as a material handler and now trained and accepted a position as a back-end assistant which has allowed me more money to help support and raise my family and even do some of the things that make me happy!
I was blessed the day I walked into the Lancaster Works office and want to say thank you for everyone who supported me through this journey. I just pray I continue to do the right things for the right reasons so I can continue being blessed. I refuse to let my past to dictate my future, so I chose to stay strong and allow help to help me and I'm a better person because of it.
